The Great British Bake Off Is Back

Last night saw the return of everyone’s favourite baking show! What could be more delicious that 12 amateur bakers showcasing their best baking skills in a gorgeous setting for the next 10 weeks.  Filmed during one of the hottest summers in British history, we’re sure that this year will be filled with twists and turns a-plenty!

The first episode kicked off with biscuit week.  A signature challenge featuring regional biscuits, a technical challenge which saw the bakers having a go at a lunch box favourite – wagon wheels.  You can find a great recipe here if you want to have a go yourself (credit photo and recipe She Who Bakes) .  Home made and shop bought wagon wheels would work perfectly with our edible photos.  Personalise them for your kids back to school packed lunch or for parties as a fun treat.  You can order edible images here

Finally for the Showstopper challenge.  A 3D portrait made out of biscuits.  The theme – a selfie taken somewhere memorable!  What would your portrait be?  Ours included the Disney World Castle, wedding venues, safari in front of a herd of elephants and the statue of liberty.  We won’t tell you who was star baker or who left – we’ll leave that to find out for yourself. There’s nothing worse than stumbling across spoilers.  We’re sure this year won’t let us down and will have us on the edge of our seats.

Biscuits really do provide a fantastic surface for applying our toppers.  A simple digestive biscuit coated in icing, an oreo dipped in candy melts or shortbread topped with white chocolate will give great results and a brilliant talking point.  If you want to have a try, we’ve created a special code especially for GBBO viewers.  Just enter the code BOB10 at the checkout on our website
